India gets ready to take the first step towards building its own navigation satellite system on monday midnight after the launch of IRNSS-1A satellite. Apart from the GPS (owned by US) that is being used globally, other countries are developing or have developed their own navigation systems to be used during hostile times.
US has GPS (global positioning system), Russia has GLONASS (global navigation satellite system). China and European Union are also developing their own satellite systems BeiDou navigation system (COMPASS) and Galileo respectively.
